about

Art Wager was born in New York City where his family lived until he was about 8 years old. The Wager family moved to the "country" upstate about 50 miles north of New York to Orange County. He emigrated to California in the early 90's.

Art's had an interest in photography since childhood. His parents gave him his first 35mm camera, a Minolta X-700, at age 14 and he was hooked from there. In the year 2000, he began processing his own black and white photographs in a make-shift laundry room turned darkroom in his condo in Carlsbad, California; just north of San Diego.

In 2001, people offered to purchase some of his work after he posted a scan of a shot of the sand dunes from Imperial Valley, California, on a website. He began to sell his photographs, mostly to people through word of mouth.

Art went digital recently. He began with the purchase of Photoshop and started scanning his negatives in for digital processing. In 2006, he purchased his first digital SLR, a Nikon D200, an amazing piece of equipment. The newer images on the site were shot digitally in black & white.

In November 2009, Art's image of the Coronado Bay Bridge was featured on the cover of Science Magazine.
